21 Months - Considering a New Camera

Part of the reason there aren't as many pictures of me as often is because I move too fast. So Mommy borrowed a DSLR camera from one of her co-workers to test drive. Here is one of her favorites. This is just a thumbnail, Mommy says click on the picture to make it bigger.

Month 18 and 19

Well, it's been a couple of months since you heard from me. Lots to tell!

Let's get the statistics out of the way. At my last check up, I was 27lbs and 34.5 inches tall. I'm in the 95th percentile for height and the 75th percentile for weight. According to the old wives tale, I'm going to be at least as tall as my mommy when I grow up.

My vocabulary has exploded. So much so that I can't even remember all the words I know. Recently, I figured out the "k" sound, so I've been making a lot of use out of that. Mik! (milk) Nak! (snack) Nok Nok! (knock knock) Mom doesnt' like it so much when I go knock knock on her knees, though. I know most of the features on my head and my feet, hands and toes. I know (and say in my own special way) eyes, nose, mouth, ears, hair, head, pants, shirt, shoes, socks, diaper, bath, hat, Mommy, Daddy, PaPa (that's my Grandpop), car, dog, stuck, help, cat, turtle, baby, owie, poopoo, duck, apple, nana, water, hot, elephant, giraffe, fish, and a lot more.

Speaking of animals, on our trip back to the mainland, we went to the Henry Doorly Zoo. I wasn't really too thrilled with the whole experience until we got to the aquarium. There was a water tunnel in there and the fish were all around me! It was very exciting! So much so, that I started whooping and hollering. Luckily, I didn't scare the fish away.

Mom and I went to the beach a couple weeks ago. I'm happy to report I didn't freak out about the sand and the water like I did last July. I had fun sitting on the beach letting the water come up to me. It wasn't so much fun trying to get all the sand out of my nooks and crannies, though. Mommy made me take a shower when we got home and I didn't really like that. Mom says we are going to go to another beach over the long holiday weekend. We have to go very early in the morning when the sun isn't as strong so I don't get sunburned.

Our trip to the mainland was very eventful. I was not happy with the fact that I wasn't able to go to bed on the late night flight out and screamed for two hours. Mommy and Daddy had bought me my own seat, but I spent that entire flight on Mommy. We did a lot of driving in Nebraska and I got to meet a lot of new people. I got to watch a lot of Elmo during those long drives, so it was ok.

Soon after we got back from our trip, Daddy left. Mommy says he's going to be gone for a long time, but that doesn't stop me from asking about him a few times a day. I got to talk to him on the phone the other day. Ok, he talked, I just listened. I thought maybe he was trapped in Mommy's phone, so I kept trying to push the buttons to let him out. It didn't work, though.

Mommy and I are keeping busy while Daddy is away. Last weekend we went to the Discovery Center with Auntie Linda and my buddy Mia. It was a lot of fun. Mommy says we're going to do something fun with them again next month.

Well, that's about it for now. I hope you like the pictures below. Mommy's a little better about putting up pictures of me on Facebook, so if you use Facebook, you should try finding Mommy.

Month 16 and 17

Let me start off by apologizing for Mommy not updating my website in awhile. On a Monday March, I was so excited about going to school, I ran towards the jungle gym. Then I tripped, fell and bashed my head on the jungle gym. I had a huge golf-ball sized bump and bruise on my head most of that month and Mommy didn’t want pictures to remind her of my big owie. That’s her excuse for March. I don’t know what her problem has been this month. You’ll have to ask her about that.

Where to begin? My vocabulary continues to grow, although sometime Mom still doesn’t know what I’m saying. I say “all done” while signing it. I can say “more” quite well (with the r sound even). I say “no” much to Mommy’s annoyance and “mine.” Ok, I normally screech those two, but you get the point. I know that ducks go “quack quack” and do a really good frog impression with my tongue. I can also impersonate a dog on a hot day, a chicken and do a good “rowr” for a variety of animals. I am obsessed with babies and Elmo. I can say “socks,” “bubble,” “chis” (cheese) and “ssss ssss” means Sesame Street. I’m good at taking my own shoes off as soon as I get home and I put my clothes in the hamper after my bath. Mommy says I give good hugs and she really loves it when I run to her for a kiss. I like to wave to the security guards when we come through the front of the complex.

Since my last update, my Auntie Clarissa and her baby boy (my future husband) Richie came home to Hawaii for a visit. Mommy, Daddy and I have been going to the park a lot and I rode the swing for the first time. I wasn’t too thrilled with it, but I do like me some slides. I had my 15 month check up kinda late, but I’m 26 pounds and 32 inches tall. Daddy’s been on leave the last couple of weeks and I’ve really liked spending so much time with him.

Next month we are going on vacation, so don’t expect an update. My next doctor’s appointment is June 22nd. I’ll have some updated stats and vacation pictures to share with you then. Mom’s freaking out about our first airplane ride together. We’ll let you know how it goes.

15 Months

This week I turned 15 months. It's been a great month. I've gotten the hang of walking. Mom and I like to chase each other around the house. I still fall down sometimes, but I seem to have a high threshold for pain. I walk with Mommy to and from the car everytime we go somewhere. I love to climb on things now. There is a jungle gym at "school" and I got my first knot on my head this month from falling off it.

I've added more signs and words to my vocabulary. I've got the sign for "milk" down. I also have a sign for "help." Words I say include: hi, eyes, bye-bye, mo' (more), nana (banana), up, mama, sewes (shoes), ball, down and I know a cow says "moo." When Mommy says we're going bye-bye, I like to get her shoes for her. But she keeps telling me it's hard for her to put them on when I'm waving them around in the air.

I like to help Mommy empty the dishwasher and put clothes in the dryer. I like to take clothes out of my drawers and put them in Mommy's drawers or in the bathtub. I've recently discovered the handle on the toilet, but I haven't quite figured out how to work it yet. I love Elmo. I watch Sesame Street almost every day and I like to dance and wave at the TV. Mom and I listen to music a lot and I like to sing along and bang my head.

Mom says there aren't a lot of pictures this month because I don't stay still long enough. I'm working on some molars, so excuse my finger chewing.

14 Months

Yesterday I turned 14 months old. A lot has happened in the past month. I'm happy to report that I now have 8 teeth (ok, 7 and a half, that last one is just poking through). I'm learning more and more about chewing. It's getting easier the more teeth I get. I'm working on some molars in the back, but they are taking their sweet time.

My signing has been getting much better. I use the signs I know more and more and say "Mama" to get Mommy's attention. Sometimes I say it very loudly. I'm very polite. "Please" is one of my favorite signs, except sometimes, even though I say please, I don't get what I want. What is up with that?

I had a great holiday! Mom and Dad both had the week of Christmas off, so we got to spend lots of time together as a family. We didn't put up a tree, but Daddy put up some lights and hung up all the holiday cards we received. I got a lot of great gifts and I'm very grateful for all of them.

And now for the big news...I'm walking! Yesterday I started walking big time. I'm still working on my balance issues and I have to take it slow, but I prefer to walk instead of crawl. Now that I'm walking, Mommy says I can't necessarily go wherever I want to, though. Kind of defeats the purpose, doesn't it?

I hope you all had a great holiday season. There are lots of present-opening pictures below.
